The Old Forge at Tomidhu, Royal Deeside
This proposal involved the creation of a small holding with the renovation and extension of a beautiful little derelict cottage plus a new house built on the adjacent land over two phases.
The stone cottage is now complete and is preserved as a new studio and living space with new bedrooms in a low key extension to the rear. The large site allows for a new house to be constructed adjacent to the cottage, as a second phase, to form a sheltered arrangement of flexible buildings using simple materials that reference the original cottage and the rural location.
