Lucid Architecture is a firm of Chartered Architects and was formed in 2004 by Andy Whyte with the aim of working on bespoke, high quality projects with challenges and requirements where finding creative solutions is a pre-requisite. This was a logical step after formal training at the Glasgow School of Art and working in other successful design orientated offices such as Gareth Hoskins Architects and Blast Architects.

The practice has now become well established and we are happy that most of the work comes from recommendations and repeat business. We like challenges and take pride in spending time to find a different approach to achieve a better end product, often managing to meet requirements which may seem impossible to deal with.

A simple love of design, drawing and seeing projects turn into reality keeps the practice moving forward and developing. We are always eager for new projects and clients to work with and show what we can achieve.

At Lucid we strive to produce work that is beautiful, functional, natural, affordable and sustainable. Project sizes can range from designing a piece of furniture or moving a wall through to larger and more complex work to convert listed buildings or deal with new build sites with many constraints to be overcome.

We can organise anything from a simple building warrant permission up to a fully managed project to deliver the completed construction work on a complex commission:

  • Feasibility studies
  • Development advice
  • Licensing plans
  • Planning permission
  • Listed buildings consent
  • Outline planning permission
  • Building warrant permission
  • Project specification
  • Project tendering
  • Project management
  • Site visits
  • Contract administration
  • Project completion
